Xbox/Microsoft Store – Activation of a code:
Required Information:
- A Microsoft account (Xbox Live account) with the region set to match the code.
- An Xbox console connected to the internet, or a Windows PC (with Microsoft Store app) or a web browser.
- A digital code for a game or subscription (25-character code in a 5x5 format).
Activation Steps (via Microsoft account website):
- Navigate to account.microsoft.com/billing/redeem, which is the code redemption page. Log in with your Microsoft account (the one on which you want to redeem the code).
- In the field labeled “Redeem your code or gift card,” enter your 25-character code.
- Click “Next” and confirm the redemption. The system will validate the code and add the content (game, subscription, or credit) to your account.
Activation Steps (on an Xbox console):
- On your Xbox console, press the Guide button (the Xbox logo on the controller) and navigate to the Store.
- In the Store, find the option “Use a code.” On Xbox Series X/S, this is available on the Store home; on Xbox One, you can find it under the Games or Apps section.
- Enter the 25-character code using the on-screen keyboard or the Xbox mobile app.
- Confirm the redemption. If the code is valid, you will receive a confirmation that the content is now associated with your account, and you can immediately begin downloading the game or using the service.
Important Notices:
- Similar to PlayStation, Xbox codes can be region-locked. For example, a code purchased for the US market may not work on an account set to a different country. Pay attention to the region information when purchasing a code.
- After a code is activated, the game or service is tied to your Microsoft/Xbox account. It cannot be transferred to another account, so make sure you redeem the code on the correct account.
