Steam – Activation via a purchased account:

Required Information:

  • Login credentials for the Steam account – the account name or email and password provided by the seller.
  • Access to the email inbox associated with that Steam account (if login to the email was provided, for verification codes).
  • Installed Steam client on your PC and an internet connection.

Activation Steps (using the purchased Steam account):

  1. Log out of your personal Steam account in the client (if you are logged in). On the login screen, enter the username or email and password of the provided (purchased) Steam account.
  2. On the first login, Steam may ask for a Steam Guard verification code (2FA). This code will be sent to the email address linked to the account. (If the seller provided access to that email, log in to that inbox to retrieve the code. If not, contact the seller to obtain the verification code.)
  3. Once logged in, verify that the purchased game is present in the account’s library and that it’s the correct edition. Also ensure there is no unwanted activity on the account (e.g., played hours that might indicate previous use).
  4. Change the account credentials to your own:
    • Change the email: In the Steam account settings (under security), change the email address to your own. (Steam will send a confirmation code to the original email – obtain that code from the seller or provided email access, then finalize setting your new email.)
    • Change the password: Set a new, strong password that only you know (in the Steam client via the “Change Password” option).
    • Enable Steam Guard (2FA): Turn on two-factor authentication for the Steam account (for example, via the Steam Guard mobile app) to better protect the account.
  5. If you prefer to play the game on your main Steam account, you can use the Steam Family Sharing feature. This means after logging into the purchased account on your PC, authorize your personal account to access the games in its library. (In Steam settings under “Family,” enable library sharing with your main account.) Then log out and back into your own account – you will be able to play the game via library sharing.
  6. The purchased account is intended primarily to give you access to the specific game. It is not recommended to use it as your main account or to buy additional games on it. Also, be careful not to violate Steam’s terms of service – for example, it’s advised not to contact Steam’s official support regarding this purchased account.

Important Notices:

  • If you see a message about incorrect username or password when logging in, do not repeatedly retry with the same credentials – the account could become temporarily locked. Instead, verify that you have the correct login details and ideally use copy-paste to enter them (making sure not to include extra spaces).
  • In case of any issues with the account (unable to log in, missing game, etc.), contact the seller or the support of the marketplace where you purchased the account immediately, using the appropriate support channels.
